Cumbria Farm Days 2007
Please join us for a guided walk at Mansergh Hall Farm on
Saturday 26th May 2007 from 11am to approx 1pm.
Why not come and enjoy a leisurely guided walk through the
organic fields at Mansergh Hall, taking you down to the River Lune
and then through the fields to enjoy views of the Fells and the Lune
Valley. Hear about farming at Mansergh Hall in the past from Jim,
and about organic farming in the present with our guest Kate
Gascoigne from Cumbria Organics.
Bring the family for a lovely morning out, and pack a picnic to
enjoy at the end of the walk.
Bring your boots, as the walk does involved rough ground. Please
park and meet at the Farm shop.
Cumbria Farm Days 2007
Is a project aimed at supporting farmers in raising public
awareness of the important role farmers play in producing local,
quality products and in maintaining our valued landscapes now and in
the future. Working in partnership with the Cumbria Farming Network,
and laising with other organisations, Friends of the Lake District
shall be publicising 40 farm events from April onwards.
Asparagus
There was a rather large disaster on May1st, a contractor
ploughed the entire crop!!! We do however have available plenty of
asparagus grown by Chris Kitchen in Lincolnshire.
Please note the asparagus is not organic.
News From The Farm
Lambing
All done!! The weather has been wonderful this lambing time. Many
of the lambs didn’t see rain for the first 4 weeks of their lives.
Seeding
The fields known as The Meadow and The Weights have been ploughed
ready for the planting of organic barley and grass, kale and Swedes.
This is to feed our stock over the winter months next year.
Cows & calves
Our herd of cattle are now outside enjoying the spring grass, as
well as our garden!
New Member of the Team.
